Amory – Jimmy Lee Thompson, 54, died on Friday, August 27, 2010, at his residence. Born on February 25, 1957, in Chicago, IL, he was a son of Maggie Braxton Thompson and the late Walter Charles Thompson.
Jimmy married Linda Gaile Gilbert on December 17, 1977. He worked in the maintenance department for the Cities of Rosedale and Indianola. Jimmy was a member of Open Door Worship Center, Hamilton. A very special person, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his family, going for rides and watching television.
His is survived by his wife, Linda Thompson, Amory; daughter, Ashley Nicole Thompson, Lucedale; son, Jimmy Lee Thompson, II, Amory; mother, Maggie Thompson, Amory; sisters, Frances (Jerry) Davis, Amory and Peggy (Wally) Davis, Indianola; brother, Donald (Virginia) Thompson, Ruleville; special nephew, Mikey Perry, Smithville; special great-great-nephew, Owen Brice Goode, Amory; and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Castle, and brothers, Butch and Kenneth Thompson.
A Committal funeral service for Jimmy Thompson will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday in Masonic Cemetery with Bro. Preston Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be Brad and Brent Adams, Lellon Couey, and Corey, Richard and Barry Davis.
Visitation will be from 11:30 – 1:15 PM, Monday at the funeral home.
For those who prefer, donations may be given to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
