Wren – Jimmy H. Thompson, 61, died on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at University of MS Medical Center, Jackson. Born on November 3, 1950, in Nettleton, he was a son of the late Jimmy D. and Mary Adams Thompson.
Jimmy was a graduate of Nettleton High School, Class of 1970. On September 27, 1975, he married Wanda Wilkinson. Before becoming disabled, Jimmy was a truck driver for Hickory Springs Mfg. in Verona. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. A loving and honest man who was always joking, his life revolved around his family. Jimmy enjoyed fishing, camping with his family, riding motorcycles with his wife, riding horses, going to auctions and yard sales, Gospel music and church hymns. A member of Gold Wing Road Riders Association, he was active in their charity fundraising campaigns.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Wanda W. Thompson, Wren; sons, Jason H. Thompson and his wife, Carrie G. Thompson and James E. Thompson and his wife, Talisha R. Thompson, of Wren; sisters, Dorothy Harlow, Nettleton, Nellie Vernon, Becker, and Alice Perry, Florida; grandchildren, Austin Rowell, Dylan Thompson, and Emma Grace Thompson; several nieces and nephews; and several special friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, John C. Poss; and twin siblings, Willie Poss and Brenda Floyd.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1/3 PM, Friday, February 17 at Friendship Baptist Church/E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Todd Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Terry “Tubby” Harlow, Rodney Lindsey, Ricky Williams, Johnny Sloan, Glenn Parish, and Eddie Adams.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Thursday at the funeral home.
