Wren – Jimmy Richard “Termite” Harlow of Wren passed away at the age of 75 on March 31, 2023 after a long illness. He was born on November 21, 1947, in Wren, Mississippi. He was the son of the late Richard C. Harlow, Jr. and Merle Lawler Harlow.

Jimmy was known throughout high school and the rest of his life as Termite. He graduated from Amory High School and attended Itawamba Junior College in Fulton, MS. He was a Vietnam War veteran who served in the U.S. Army from 1971-1972. From 2003-2004 he was deployed to Iraq with the U.S Army National Guard 223rd Engineer Battalion in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was proud of having served a combined total of 23 years in the U.S. Army and the US. Army National Guard.

Jimmy retired from Georgia Gulf in Aberdeen, Ms where he was a Supervisor in Purchasing and Receiving. Later in life, he worked part-time at Food Giant in Aberdeen, Ms.

In his spare time, Jimmy loved to play golf and his friends liked to comment on his “unique” golf swing. But the thing he liked the most was spending time with Uncle Dub and friends at Uncle Dub’s shop sharing stories and telling wild tales. Jimmy loved the community of Wren and “the bottom.” He also especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

All the wonderful memories made through the years will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be missed.

He is survived by his wife Linda Gail Pickle whom he married on June 25, 2005; his sister Janet Harlow (Mike) Coleman, Lebanon, TN; his three children Jimmy R. Harlow II, Aberdeen, Timothy Harlow, Aberdeen and Shannon (Darren) Hensley, Tupelo; three stepchildren Wendy Calhoun, Amory, Laura Lovern, Amory and Leighann McWilliams, Louisville KY; five grandchildren Brandon (Kelsey) McWilliams, Haiden (Jayme) Robinson, Tanner Miller, Amiliyah Rose Harlow and Benji Harlow; five great grandchildren Conner Britt, Axel Roberts, Sadie Robinson, Jacob McWilliams and Makayla McWilliams; and a large extended family.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Wayne Harlow.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the American Legion Post 26, 523 MS-145, Aberdeen, MS.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
