Jimmy Noland Hester

Cason Community – Jimmy Noland Hester, 80, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017, at Sanctuary Hospice House, Tupelo. Born on November 12, 1936, in Monroe County, he was a son of the late James Ruble and Gladys Beatrice Sanders Hester.

Noland was a graduate of Nettleton High School, Class of 1955. Honorably serving his Country in the US Army from 1959 - 1965, he served in Korea from July 1960 - July 1961. While in the service, Noland married the love of his life, Ann Boykin, on December 26, 1959. They were blessed with two sons, Freddie and Mike. Noland was a very good father and brother. His wife affectionately called him “Hester.” After briefly working as a brakeman with Frisco Railroad, he was a mechanic for 40 years. Noland worked at Glenn’s, Blue Bell, and Red Kap; he eventually retired from Vanity Fair. Noland attended Cason Baptist Church.

His family was most important to him and Noland treasured every moment spent with them. A doer who always stayed busy, Noland enjoyed working with his hands and was known as “Mr. Fix It” to his family and friends. He was gifted in fixing lawn mowers, motors and electronics and just about anything else you put in front of him. Some of his close friends included Jack, Billy, Billy Wayne, Robert, Herschel and Jimmy. He enjoyed camping, fishing and Country music. Having a heart for people, Noland was very giving and he will be missed dearly by all that knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ann Hester, Cason Community; son, Mike Hester (Ellen), Cason Community; grandchildren, Kayla Hester (Simon Marcy), Starkville; Jonathan Hester, Amory; Pamela Tate (fiancé, Aaron), Amory; Libby Grier (Matt), Tupelo; great-grandchildren, Henry Hester Marcy and Izabelle Grier; sisters, Sara Nash (Robert), Hatley, and Ann Harlow (Billy Wayne), Amory; several nieces and nephews.
