Smithville – Jimmy Dale Cummings, 57, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2015, at NNMC, Tupelo. Born on March 24, 1958 in Amory, he was a son of Charles J. Cummings and Martha Lillie Wardlaw Cummings.
Jimmy attended Smithville School. As a self-employed mechanic, he had worked at Amoco of Smithville, at Williams Rebuilders for a number of years, and at Nathan’s One Stop. Jimmy was a member of Smithville Baptist Church. Unselfish, active, and loved by many, he was passionate about helping others and taking care of their needs. Jimmy enjoyed trading, mud riding in his dune buggy, riding motorcycles, spending time with friends, and 70’s and 80’s Rock-n-Roll.
Survivors include his father, Charles J. Cummings (Dean), Smithville; mother, Martha Lillie Cummings, Smithville; son, Matthew Cummings, Starkville; sister, Glenda Pearce, Fulton; brother, Johnny Cummings, Amory; a granddaughter; nephews, John Lance Cummings, and Jason and Scott Young; numerous special friends; and his dog who was his pride-and-joy, Shorty.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Cummings in 1967.
His Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM, Friday, June 19 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Smithville Chapel, with Bro. Dale Whitlock officiating. Burial will follow in Pearce Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Hathcock, T. C. Noe, Ricky Keeton, Ryan “Fruit Loop” Wilson, and Mike and Terry Cummings. Honorary pallbearer will be Bill Steverson.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Thursday at the Smithville Chapel.
