– ‘Jim’ Daniel Wesley Wren, 59, died at his residence on Friday, April 8, 2011 after a three year battle with lung cancer. Born on July 4, 1951, in Monroe County, he was a son of the late Charles Arthur and Frances Byrd Wren. Jim was a graduate of Hatley High School, Itawamba Community College and Mississippi State University. He was a Veteran of the Army of the United States. Jim worked as an x-ray technician in Amory, a high school teacher in Fulton and Corinth, a diesel mechanic and a truck driver before his retirement. In 1992, Jim took his family to Seward Alaska which had been a lifelong dream of his to take them and his last trip was in May of 2010 to Gulf Shores, Alabama. A good husband and father, Jim cherished time spent with his family especially his grandchildren. Jim enjoyed ‘Buddy” his little dog for eleven years. He enjoyed fishing and working on automobiles. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mona Addington Wren of Wren; Leigh Ellen Wren of Wren; sons, Israel Wren (Michele) of Wren and Noah Wren (Tara) of Amory; sister, Sandra Coleman (Leslie) of Caledonia; brother, Tommy Wren (Marsha) of Batesville; grandchildren, Kaleigh and Sophia Wren and Keller and Kane Wilson; 16 nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Molly Cook; brother, Randy Wren and wife Nan; his dog “Buddy” of 11 years.A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 PM, Saturday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro Tim McMillen and Mr. Marshall Eubanks officiating. Burial will follow at Young Memorial Gardens in Smithville. Pallbearers will be Gilbert Addington, Phillip Addington, Leslie Coleman, Damon Coleman, Jesse Coleman, Daniel Wren and Phil Hoots. Visitation will be from 12 until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.For those who prefer in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St Jude, PO Box 1000 Dept 300, Memphis TN 38148 or to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.
