Columbus - Jewell Palmer McDaniel, died on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Gilmore Memorial RMC, Amory. Born on April 13, 1925, in Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late Curtis L. and Fleeta Wood Palmer.

Mrs. McDaniel attended Becker School. She married Leo G. “Mac” McDaniel and worked as a shipping and receiving clerk for Amory Garment and RedKap before retiring. An independent, hardworking and honest lady, Mrs. McDaniel was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Columbus and had served as the Sunday school bookkeeper. She enjoyed listening to music, especially Country, Elvis, and Southern Gospel. Her hobbies were gardening and working in the yard.

She is survived by her stepdaughters, Edna M. Carley, Columbus, Carolyn Allman (Jimmy), Concord, NC, Odenia Miller (Lt. Col Jimmie D. Miller, USAF, Retired), Sherwood AR, and Loretta M. Moore, Concord, NC; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 1 great, great granddaughter

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo G. “Mac” McDaniel.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, May 29, at Masonic Cemetery, AHS, with Dr. Lloyd Sweatt officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Elbert and Clara Bowser, Raymond and Rachel Lowe, and Antioch Baptist Church members.

Everyone is asked to meet at 1:45 PM, Thursday at the cemetery.
