Jessie Sue Threlfall passed away June 9, 2019 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Living most of adult life in Winston-Salem and Clemmons, North Carolina, she lived her final 19 months at the Traceway Retirement Community in Tupelo. She was born November 14, 1928 in Amory, MS to George H. and Florence M. Threlfall.
A 1946 graduate of Amory High School, she was an All Little Ten Conference guard on the basketball team and played clarinet in the band. She was a 1950 graduate of Bob Jones University and earned her Master's degree from East Carolina University in 1957. Her teaching career spanned 36 years including 6 at Northwest High School and after consolidation 23 years at North Forsyth High School in Winston-Salem. She taught English and was the Student Council Advisor. She loved teaching and the lifelong relationships she had with former students and faculty colleagues. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church and more recently First Baptist Church, Amory. To her survivors she was simply Aunt Jessie, kind and compassionate, the kind of aunt everyone would be blessed to have.
Survivors include Sister in law Bernice Threlfall, Carlsbad, CA; Nieces and Nephews: Tommy Parish (Theresa), Amory, MS, Molly McCollum, Gallatin, TN, Sylvia Crossley (Bill), Miami, OK; David Threlfall (Sheila), Carlisle, PA; Diane Rutherford (Ron) Scottsdale, AZ; Susan Ottavi (Neal), Thompson's Station, TN; Doug Threlfall (Barbara), Seoul, South Korea; Jimmie Paul Threlfall, Indianapolis, IN; Diana Forman, Carlsbad, CA; Mike Threlfall, Spokane, WA; and Scott Threlfall (Jennifer), Carlsbad, CA.
She was preceded in death by parents George and Florence Threlfall; Brothers Henry Threlfall, Jimmie Threlfall and Bill Threlfall; infant sister Mary Margaret Threlfall, twin sister Bessie Parish and longtime special friend Joyce Sutton.
In lieu of a funeral, her family celebrated her life at a bed side service on June 7th. Mixing tears with laughter they expressed their love for Jessie and gave thanks to God for the influence she had on each of their lives. Her burial at Haughton Memorial Park in Amory was under the direction of Pickle Funeral Home.
