Amory - Jessie "Bug" Ridings Patterson, 88, died on Friday, May 16, 2014, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Born on March 16, 1926, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Jessie Kendrick Ridings.
Growing up in Bigbee, Mrs. Patterson attended Bigbee School. She married Coy G. Patterson on March 3, 1945 in Hatley. After retiring as a seamstress from the local garment industry, Mrs. Patterson was passionate about her work as a caregiver, helping people who needed assistance. Guided by her faith, she was a member of Providence Baptist Church. A wonderful and loving lady whose family was her life, she enjoyed Gospel music.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Walls (Tim), Amory; grandchildren, Emily Walls Morris (Jason) and Benji Tubb; great-granddaughter, Kallie Morris; son-in-law, Douglas Tubb, Amory; and nieces, Fay Loden, Hilda Underwood, and Lorene Rollins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 55 years; daughter, Donna Sue Tubb; sister, Emma Bell Springer; and brothers, Clinton and Franklin Ridings.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM, Monday, May 19 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. James Rutledge, Bro. James Gillentine, and Bro. Scott Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Dahlem, Joey Taylor, Jason Morris, Mike Loden, Randall Wigginton, Ronald Jackson, Mike Baughman, and David Easley.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.
