Amory – Jessie Marie Fooshee, 82, died on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at Darlington Oaks, Verona. Born on April 20, 1932, in Quincy, she was a daughter of the late Hosie and Ellie Inez Woodruff Thompson.
Mrs. Fooshee attended Greenwood Springs School. In 1951, she married Carl Ray “Monkey” Fooshee. Mrs. Fooshee retired from Amory Garment after more than 40 years of service. To stay busy, she went to work at the cosmetic counter for Walmart, retiring with over 20 years of service. Strong in her faith, she was a member of East Amory Baptist Church. Mrs. Fooshee was passionate about caring for her family and neighbors. Loving, compassionate and loyal, she was a wonderful mom who enjoyed being outside working in her flower gardening, especially her roses; working in the garden; playing piano and listening to Christian and Gospel music.
Survivors include her son, Jay Fooshee, Amory; sisters, Jerrel Pearson, Hazel McMillan and Sally Camp of Amory; brothers, David Thompson, Amory and Dennis Thompson (Betty), Wren; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son and daughter; her sisters, Mary Weaver, Lillian Shields and Ida Lou Neal; and brothers, Basil Thompson and Hosie Thompson, Jr.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, November 15 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Akers officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Boyd and Loyd Pearson; Tim Camp, Larry Pickle, Dennis Thompson and Anthony Fooshee. Honorary pallbearers will be Dudgey West, Wayne Arrant and Harrell Fooshee.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
