Amory – Jerry Lee Reese, 63, started his new life in Heaven on Monday, March 22, 2021. Born on February 2, 1958, in Aberdeen, MS, he was the son of Cora Renfro Reese and the late Harvey Lee Reese.
Jerry Lee grew up in Monroe County, in a large family where he had four sisters and he was the only boy. He attended both Hatley and Amory High School. Jerry knew the value of hard work and he worked for MS Gravel where he dredged in Bigbee. He also drove trucks for Peopleloungers and Sanderson Ready Mix. Eventually, he became an owner/operator of a truck driving company.
He married the love of his, Donna Kay Shelton on March 1, 1979 and together they were blessed with four children. He loved God, was outgoing and always happy. Jerry loved to listen to Gospel music and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Nettleton. Later in life, God led him to preach and tell others about the Gospel. He loved leading others to Christ. He was an honest and open man who loved people and to joke with others.
Jerry enjoyed anything outdoors as long as his friends or family was with him. Jerry loved riding four wheelers, especially with his grandchildren on back. He enjoyed grilling at cookouts, fishing, running trout lines, and hunting.
Jerry will be missed dearly by his family and loved ones. They have many great memories to cherish through the years. There is peace knowing he is healed and with his Savior.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Kay Shelton Reese, Amory; mother, Cora Renfro Reese, Amory; daughters, Audrey Jordan (Zach), Amory, Kara Reese (Jathan Stanley), Amory, Mary Elizabeth West “Reese”, Amory; sons, Josh Reese (Meredith), Aberdeen; grandchildren, Jacob West, Caleb West, Ayden Lee Reese, and Alexia Reese; sisters, Judy Henson, Okolona, Janice Garza, Nettleton, Joyce Van Norman, Amory, and Jeanette Kizzire (Tim), Saltillo; a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Lee Reese and close friends, Billy Mack and Brenda Sue Mc Bunch.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at 11:00 am at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, MS, with Bro. Robert Earl Fowlkes and Bro Bubba Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in Howell Annex Cemetery, in Athens, MS. Pallbearers will be Timothy Garza, Tony Garza, Justin Garza, Tony Noe, Timothy Jordan, and Ethan Barnett.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 am until the service hour at the funeral home in Amory.
