Smithville- Jerry Richard Goforth, 65, died Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Born in Flat Rock, AL February 23, 1948 he was a son of the late Lonnie and Mae Harris Goforth.
Growing up and attending school in Flat Rock, he had lived the last 30 years in Smithville. Jerry was of the Baptist faith and worked for B&B Concrete, Tremont Floral, and Spann Trucking. A deeply devoted and fun loving family man, Jerry loved being with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed the outdoors, working on cars, watching TV 39 and wrestling.
Survivors include his daughter, Lois Vance (Stanley), Tupelo; son, Paul Goforth (Latonya), Amory; sister, Estelle Morris (Steve), Smithville; brothers, Marvin Goforth (Loretta), TX and Bobby Goforth, AL; grandchildren, Laura, Amber, and Joseph Holt; great grandchild, Skyler Wade Sanderson; a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Goforth.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11am, Saturday, October 5, 2013 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Jamie Stark officiating. Burial will follow in Coontail Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gene, Cody and Chad Morris, Daniel Luther, John Carruthers, Sonny Boyd and Philip Fowler.
Visitation will be Friday Evening at the funeral home from 5-8pm.
