Amory –Jerry R. Evans “8 Ball”, 62, died on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, in Prattville, AL, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Born on September 9, 1950, in Cleveland, MS, he was a son of Bertha Davidson Evans and the late Edgar V. Evans.

Jerry was a graduate of Meridian High School, Class of 1968. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He served in Vietnam and was also a Drill Instructor, graduating from the Institute of Personnel Management. Jerry received many honors and decorations and was very proud of his military service. He was a Service Manager at Ruan Transportation. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, the American Legion, a founding member of Bikers for Christ, founding member and past vice president of Dream Riders, a founding member of Eldridge Children’s Home Toy Run, and current State President of In Country MC. Jerry used his love of motorcycles, coaching church league softball, and football to touch and change many lives by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Always smiling and never meeting a stranger, Jerry used his positive attitude towards life to help raise money for various causes and benefits. He treasured time spent with his family. His best friend and wife, Barbara, would often accompany him on motorcycle rides. With his life’s work being complete, his family knows that he has gone to heaven to be with Jesus, and they love him dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Evans, Amory; his mother, Bertha Davidson Evans, Starkville; daughters, Christina Evans and her daughter Cheyenne and Kelly Mundy (Kenny) and their daughter Emma, all of Sacramento, CA.; step daughter, Mary Beth Watt and her son Dalton, of Starkville; step sons, Thomas Wayne Cantrell and his son Trevor and Michael Thomas Cantrell (Lynsey) and their daughter Rylee Belle, all of Amory; sisters, Kay Brancaccio and Vickie Robertson (Rob) all of Starkville; brother, Edgar V. Evans, Jr. and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bertha Diane Evans and a nephew Bobby Brancaccio.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 PM, Friday, October 19, 2012, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Marty Roberts, Bro. Ronald Floyd, Bro. Rob Gardner, and Bro. William Warren officiating. Pallbearers will be Phil “Fatboy” Frye, Eric “Policeman” Chrestman , William “Big Red” Warren, Marty “Kabalan” Roberts, Rob “Hotshot” Gardner, and Allen “Thunder” Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will be members of In Country MC, Dream Riders, Bikers for Christ and CMA.

Memorials may be given to the Eldridge Children’s Home, 86 Academy DR. Eldridge, AL 35554.
