Jeffrey Hayes

Becker – Jeffrey Hayes, 41, died on Friday, May 6, 2011, at Methodist University Hospital, Memphis. Born on August 16, 1969, in Fulton, he was a son of Leon Hayes and Darlene Tweet.
Jeff attended Tremont High School and graduated from Itawamba Agricultural High School, Fulton. Working in construction all of his life, he worked with his dad at Hayes Construction, with Brown and Root contractors at Kerr-McGee, was self-employed, and worked with Steve Palmer Construction. Jeff was of the Baptist faith. Having a big heart, his ministry was reaching out to help people with whatever they needed. Pure as gold on the inside, Jeff’s family was very important to him, and he loved them in his own unique way. He never met a stranger and enjoyed making others laugh. Jeff enjoyed fishing, listening to music and Mississippi State sports, yet his most enjoyment came from watching football and going to the Bristol and Talladega NASCAR races where he’d pull for his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Lori Hayes, Athens; father, Leon Hayes, Fulton; mother, Darlene (Eric) Tweet, Pell City, AL; daughters, Candace Holloway, LeAnna Hayes and Chloe Hayes, all of Athens and Laken Hayes and Laura Beth (Tyler) Chaney, Fulton; son, Jeffrey Darrin Hayes, Athens; grandson, Jace Cooley, Fulton; brother, Marty (Jennifer) Hayes and their daughter, M. J., Fulton; aunts, Laverne Kennedy, Pauline Altom, Dorothy Greene, Faye Harris and Peggy Hayes; uncles, Ferrell (Linda) Hayes, Junior (Shirley) Hayes, David (Tammie) Dodd, and Barbara (Mark) Donaldson. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Judge Charles and Jessie Dodd, paternal grandparents, John and Madie Hayes; aunt, Mary Heartherly; uncles, Bobby Hayes, Eugene Kennedy, Fred Greene and Jimmy Altom.
