Jeanine D. Butts

Mrs. Jeanine Butts passed away Saturday morning, April 8, 2017 in Oxford, MS, at the age of 78. Jeanine D. Butts (Meyers) was the first born child of Loyal and Elna Meyers, born on November 9, 1938 in Ord, Nebraska. She married Dean Dwinell on March 24, 1957. Mr. Dwinell was tragically killed in an accident one year later, shortly after their son, Martin, was born. On August 16, 1960, Jeanine married Raymond Butts, her loving and devoted husband of 56 years. She was a Nebraska girl who found herself in Mississippi without her heart ever leaving Colorado.

Mrs. Butts is best defined as a woman of great faith. She loved her Savior with all her heart, soul, mind, strength (and occasional text or letter.) She had the most loving smile in all the county and was one of the sweetest ladies you could ever meet. She was active in her local church and homemaker's association. Jeanine was a creative and talented woman who enjoyed a variety of hobbies including sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, tatting, painting, and in her younger days, square dancing. Her favorite past time was playing cards and dominoes with her friends and grandchildren. Her career was her family and she was a dedicated homemaker. She loved her family well and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Butts; 2 children, Raymond Wayne Butts (Sandy) of Monroe MI, and Janice White (Wesley) of Smithville, MS; 4 siblings, Marvin Meyers (Gwen), Loraine Cooper (John), Janet Meyers, and Leroy Meyers (Deloris) all from the Longmont, CO area; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jeanine is preceded in death by her parents Loyal and Elna Meyers from Longmont, CO; her first husband, Dean Dwinell; her first born son, Martin Dwinell; 2 brothers, Gary Meyers and Robert Meyers, both from Longmont, CO.

A memorial service for Jeanine Deanna Butts of Thaxton, MS will be held at Thaxton Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 3:00 pm. There will be a time of visitation with the family at 2:00 pm. The Reverend Michael Wilbanks will be officiating the service.
