Jean Morgan
Smithville, Miss.—Martha Jean Lewis Morgan, 79, died on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the Riverplace Nursing Center in Amory. Born February 26, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Ethel Guin Lewis. She married James Hollis “Pot” Morgan. She was a homemaker for many years and before her retirement, she worked as a CNA and in laundry services for Beverly Enterprises. She was a member of the Smithville Baptist Church where she was active in WMU. A member of the Homemakers’ Club, she enjoyed gardening and canning, cooking, crafts, sewing, and crocheting.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Chuck Herring, Bro. Robert Earl Fowlkes, and Bro. Norman Morgan officiating. Burial will be in the Smithville Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Tina Morgan of Columbus; two sons, Jeff Morgan (Judy) of Smithville and Tom Morgan (Janet) of Valley Stream, NY; 5 grandchildren, Liza Morgan, Jay Morgan, Jameson Morgan, Cameron Morgan, and Dylan Morgan; 2 great grandchildren, Annie Brooke Morgan and Gus Morgan; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Olva Knight and Pat Sanderson; and one brother, Tom Lewis.
Pallbearers will be Jay, Jameson, Cameron, and Dylan Morgan and Michelle Mitchell. Honorary pallbears will be the staff of Riverplace Nursing Facility.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home and will continue until service time on Saturday.
