Jean McClanahan Bolin

West Point – Jean Lowrimore McClanahan Bolin, 77, passed away on June 6, 2024, in Tupelo, MS and met her Savior face to face. She was born on March 4, 1947, in Amory, MS to the late Angelo Lowrimore and Pearl McHenry Lowrimore.

Jean grew up in Monroe County and graduated from Amory Highschool. She furthered her education and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She married Joeseph Denver “Joe” McClanahan, and they were blessed with a daughter, Angela, as well as two grandchildren and a great-grandson. She was a homemaker and a wonderful wife and loving mother for so many years and her family was blessed because of her devotion. After her husband passed in 1986, many years later, she married James King Bolin, Jr. and they shared several years together as well until he passed in 2020.

Jean was a sweet and very independent woman who put God and her family as her first priorities in her life. She was a member of East End Baptist Church in Columbus, MS and she loved the Lord dearly. Jean enjoyed listening to old country music as well as gospel hymns. Reading her Bible, as well as other good books, was one of her favorite past times. She has acquired quite the collection for her own personal library. In her free time, she liked to talk on the phone with her sister Jerri Pierce and her cousin Mamie. Most of all, she loved spending precious time with her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchild. She was most proud of the ability to stay home and rear a fine family who loves God.

Jean will be missed dearly and there is no doubt she has had a sweet reunion in Heaven.

She is survived by her daughter, Angela Dawkins (Bill), Columbus, MS; grandchildren, Jessica Balli (Brandon), Olive Branch, and Brooke Dawkins, Morton, IL; great-grandson, Logan Balli, Olive Branch; sister, Jerri Pierce, Amory; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe McClanahan; second husband, James Bolin; sisters, Patricia Lowrimore and Janice Spencer.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Amory Historical Society Cemetery, in Amory, Mississippi with Bro. Nick Cannady officiating. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery for the services.
