Janie Bryant

Smithville - Janie Bryant passed into heaven on April 19, 2024 and is now with her Lord and Savior, fully healed and released from pain. Janie was born in Pontotoc County on February 12, 1939 to Dolph and Agnes Harrison.

She was a hard worker all her life, working in cotton fields and other pursuits in helping her parents and eight siblings to make a living. She moved to Smithville in 1969 and worked in area garment factories until beginning her career at True Temper She was very proud of her 37 years working there before retiring.

Janie loved cats, wind chimes, and all flowers and trees. She enjoyed visiting with her friends and extended family. She also loved watching the Atlanta Braves baseball games. She was a fantastic cook and loved to have all her family together for special occasions. Her greatest joy however was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Left to treasure her memory are her daughters, Donna Jones (David) of Smithville and Denise Booth (Rick) of Wren; her sons, Donald Ferguson (Devy) of Smithville and Darrell Bryant (Sarah) of Olive Branch; her grandchildren, Kayla Conwill (Nathan), Megan Booth, Josie York (Drew), Chloe Weeks (Kaitlyn), Blade Privett and Cage Bryant; her great-grandchildren, Kaleigh, Wes, Russ, Khol Morgan and Tripp York; one brother, Charles Harrison of Michigan; dear friends, Peggy Pierce and Virginia Thompson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lona Bramlett; and seven brothers, Altas Harrison, Grady Harrison, Billy Harrison, Gene Harrison, Berlin Harrison and La Darryl Harrison.

The family wishes to thank Legacy Hospice and especially Debra Jefferson, RN who went above and beyond to administer care, support and love to Janie and to her caregivers. Your efforts were deeply appreciated.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will take place on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at Young Memorial Garden in Smithville, Mississippi with Bro. Dennis Smithey officiating. Burial will follow with her family being the pallbearers. Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm at the Smithville Chapel of E. E. Pickle Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Amory Humane Society in honor of Janie’s love for all creatures.
