Amory – Jane Flippo, 76, died on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo. Born on December 11, 1934, in Quincy, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Annie Carter.
Jane attended school in Quincy and Greenwood Springs. She married her high school sweetheart, Doyle Flippo on March 4, 1952. They had four children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After 40 years of service, Jane retired as a supervisor with Amory Garment Company. She attended East Amory Baptist Church.
Jane was good hearted and always willing to offer a helping hand. She cherished the time spent with her family, especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Jane enjoyed riding her horse, Earl, and traveling to every state with Doyle. She loved the sunshine, playing in the water, and working in her yard. Her strength of spirit and determination was an inspiration to all. Jane supported the Humane Society and enjoyed listening to Christmas music year round.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Earney Doyle Flippo, Amory; daughters, Donna (Jimmy Hastings) McCurley, Gadsden, AL; Mitzi (Chuck) Dayball, Birmingham; and Rhonda (Mark) Williams, Caledonia; son, Richard (Susan) Flippo, Southaven; brother, W. O. “Buck” (Maudean) Carter, Muscle Shoals, AL; grandchildren, Brad (Brandy) Riggan, John Flippo, Jason Flippo, Shelley Flippo, Nathan McCurley, Pete (Shayna) McCurley, Patrick (Cassie) Chism, Sam Dayball, Darby Williams and Macy Williams; great-grandchildren, Jessica Riggan, Ivy McCurley, Dezmond Flippo, Haylie Chism and Abigail Chism; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mable Dabbs; granddaughter, Monica Chism; and son-in-law, Chris McCurley.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Friday, April 22 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Rogers Akers officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Jay Harrelson, Larry Flippo, Daniel Flippo, David Flippo, Ricky Flippo and Randle Flippo.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to East Amory Baptist Church, 905 Hatley Rd., Amory, MS 38821.
