Smithville – Jane C. Hunter, 85, became totally healed and met her Savior face to face on Tuesday, October 25, 2022. She was born on July 7, 1937, in Monroe County, MS to the late Willie B. Camp and Frances Swan Camp.
At a young age, Jane’s family moved from Monroe County to Birmingham, Alabama. She graduated from Hueytown High School and went to work for the Social Security Administration. Her career spanned over 25 years and she worked in various staff and line positions. She enjoyed serving the public and giving them the assistance they needed. Eventually she moved back to Monroe County to live the rest of her life. Always a kind hearted woman, Jane always had a smile for everyone she met.
On March 2, 1972, Jane married Ed Hunter and they shared over 50 wonderful years together. Jane was a wonderful mom, a giving woman, blessed by God with children and extended family whom she loved dearly. Her grandchild Becky was the apple of her eye and she enjoyed spending time with her. She loved the Lord and was a wonderful caregiver. She gave 100% of herself to her family and friends. A woman devoted to God, she served for many years as the Secretary and Treasurer of Faith Baptist Church in Amory, MS. She loved her church family.
Jane also volunteered for AARP where she helped low and middle income people file their tax returns. She did this work at no cost to the taxpayers who came seeking help. Jane also enjoyed working with the Census Bureau and she volunteered for many years as the Secretary of the Boggan-Carter Cemetery Association. She took great pride in keeping the records straight and ensuring the cemetery was a peaceful place of rest for families. In her free time, she liked to listen to Big Band Music. Some of her hobbies included reading, working jig saw puzzles, solving crossword puzzles, and tracing her family genealogy.
Her family has no doubt that she is at peace and completely healed. They will miss her dearly yet they know that this is not good-bye, just see you again someday. They are so grateful for all the great memories and love they shared through the years.
Jane is survived by her soulmate, her husband, Ed Hunter, Smithville; daughter, Virginia Kimbrel (Rodney), Pontotoc; step-daughters, Therese Miner, Wilmington, NC, Monica Allen (Ben), Albuquerque, NM, Dolores Lovell (John), Saucier, MS, and Colette Ruggles (John), Albuquerque, NM; brothers, Frank Camp, Saltillo, Jerry Camp (Nancy), Aberdeen; grandchild, Rebecca Berryhill; a host of step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
