Wren – James Elmer Strawbridge, 83, died on Friday, December 17 at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Born on May 21, 1927, in Lamar County, AL, he was a son of the late E. K. & Vera Cox Strawbridge.
A resident of Wren for 44 years, he married Carolyn Jane Allred who died in 2003.. He married Dorothy Jean Ray who died in 2007. Mr. Strawbridge was a retired welder employed by ITT-Fabri-Valve in Amory where he received numerous awards. He was a Southern Baptist and enjoyed gardening, welding and tractors.
He is survived by daughter, Krystal Alvarado (Eric) of Marion AR; his step-daughters, Linda Sherer (Robert) of Mesa AZ and Sherry Paim (Frank) of Seven Springs NC; his son, Jimmy Strawbridge (Joy) of Ruston, LA; his step-son, Eddie Pipkin (Karen) of Amory; brothers, Edward Strawbridge (Lona) , Lealon Strawbridge (Eudene) and Ray Strawbridge (Robbie) all of Amory; sister, Willadean Reeves of Sulligent AL; 3 grandchildren, Chris Strawbridge, Amanda Perdue and Heather Strawbridge; 3 great-grandchildren, Weston Strawbridge, Hunter and Bently Perdue. In addition to his parents and both wives, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Strawbridge; sisters, Vaudine Strawbridge, Shirley Davis and Nell Haney.
A funeral service for James E. Strawbridge will be held at 2 PM, Sunday at the funeral home with Bro. Ricky Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Morrison Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mitchell Laney, Ricky Reeves, Eddie Strawbridge, Chris Strawbridge, Eric Avarado, Jim Allred, Steve Strawbridge, Jullian Strawbridge, Andrew Allred, Wayne Cox, Monty Roberts and David Cox.
Visitation will continue on Sunday until the service hour.
