Hamilton – James Craig “Shakey” Shackelford, 52, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015, in Columbus, MS. Born on April 1, 1963, in Shannon, MS, he was the son of the late James Fred and Jeanenne Dormyer Shackelford.
He graduated from Northside High School, in Fort Worth, TX. He honorably served in the US Air Force for four years and in the Reserves for an additional four years. Craig worked as a self employed electrician at Shackelford Electric Company which he started in May. He enjoyed working with his hands, especially fishing, wood working, and shooting pool. He was known as a “pool shark”. Craig liked to listen to all sorts of country music and eating all types of food. He was outgoing, always smiling, fun, and people loved to be around him.
Survivors include his sisters, Michelle Denise Shackelford, Casper, WY, Kristi Shackelford Johnson (Jerry), Shreveport, LA, Kimberly Causey, Arlington, TX, Linda Reger (Denny), Dubuque, IA; brother, Michael Wilson, Norfolk, VA, Damon Street (Laura), Arlington, TX, Byron Moore, FL; several nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Fred and Jeanenne Dormyer Shackelford.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4 PM, Friday, August 21, 2015, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Bro. Coy Hill and Bro. Andrew Blaylock officiating and David Jenkins speaking.
Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until the service hour, Friday, at the funeral home.
