Amory – James “Satch” Charles Roden, 72, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014, at his home. He was born in Ruleville, MS, on November 8, 1941, to the late Charles William and Bernice Harger Roden.
James attended EE Bass High School in Greeneville, MS. He entered into the United States Marine Corp in 1963, and served until 1969. He then worked for Sears and then Log Mountain Company as a Supervisor in shipping. On August 14, 1976, he married his wife, Sheila, and they were married for 38 years. A great husband and father, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in the mechanical field. His favorite music was Country.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila of Amory; his sons, James C. Roden Jr. (Kelly) of Kaplain, LA, Billy Gammill (Angie) of Atkins, IA, Charles W. Roden II (Monica) of Amory; his grandchildren, Mathew Roden, Emily Grace Roden, Enzley Kamille Roden, Parker Gammill, Brady Gammill, Knox Roden and Locklyn Roden; and nephew Barry Smith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Wanda “Mousey” Evans and Anne Brenner; his brother, Thomas Roden of Lexington, MS.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, September 20, 2014, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Minister A.D. Gammill, Jr. officiating.
Visitation will be from 9 until 10:50 AM, Saturday, September 20, 2014, at the funeral home.
