Becker – James C. Myatt, 55, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, near Mobile, AL. Born on September 11, 1955, in Amory, he was a son of the late Geraldine Adams and Purvis C. Myatt, Jr.
James attended Becker Elementary and Amory High School. A career truck driver, his first job was with Bryan Foods. Having previously worked for Clay County Livestock and MTD, James was driving for Vernon Milling Company. He was Baptist. Loving children, he enjoyed spending time with and spoiling his nieces and nephews. An easy-going guy, James was an avid NASCAR and Kasey Kahne fan, was an Atlanta Braves fan, enjoyed listening to Southern rock and working in his yard.
He is survived by his son, David Hill, Minnesota; sisters, Marcia Hill and Lisa (Doug) Mitchem, of Amory; uncles, Naum Lee Myatt, Becker and Willie G. Myatt, Amory; niece, Kristen Plunkett, Amory; nephews, Jimmy Doyle, James Douglas and Jerry Dewayne Fowlkes, of Amory; and several great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Matthew Plunkett.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Robert E. Fowlkes officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny Knight, Darnell Green, Coy Price, Larry Adams, James Carl Adams, Willie G. Myatt, Jr., and Josh Welch.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
