Okolona – James Edward “Jimmy” Moore, 80, died on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at NMMC, Tupelo. Born in Houlka on March 16, 1934, he was a son of the late Bee and Etoile Clark Moore.
Jimmy was a graduate of Shannon High School and honorably served in the US Marine Corps. He married Delores Barnes on August 2, 1958. Jimmy owned and operated a trucking business in Okolona. He enjoyed cooking with his friends Tommy Carter, Dan Sullivan, Joe Sandsang and Kye Eubanks. Jimmy enjoyed truck driving, spending time with his grandchildren and loved Country music.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Delores Moore, Okolona; daughters, Phyllis Moore and Tara Christian(Scott), Houlka; son, Eddie Moore, Okolona; sisters, Frances Garner, Bobbie Brasher of Houlka, and Mary Nell Pettit, California; brother, Joe Moore(Patsy), Okolona; grandchildren, Chase Colbert, J.D. Christian of Houlka, and Annie Fields, Fulton; a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Gene Garner, Clardis Brasher and Ottis Pettit.
A Funeral Service will be held at 4 PM, Saturday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Donald Grimes and Bro. Bryan Odell officiating. Burial will follow in Coontail Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 – 8 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
