Amory - James Lee “Jim” Myers, 62, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the North Mississippi Medical Center. Born in Newfoundland, Canada on August 23, 1955, he was a son of the late Lowell Laverne and Virginia Ann McGinn Myers. He graduated from Rushville Consolidated High School in Rushville, Indiana. He was a member of Meadowood Baptist Church. He married Cindy Pearson on February 28, 1998. Together they were blessed with 3 children. Jim worked in the furniture industry for over 40 years. He was employed with Nautic Star until his passing.
Jim loved to help out his fellow man. He was a huge football and NASCAR fan, especially when Dale Jarrett was in the race. He loved to spend time at Orange beach just relaxing and enjoying life. On Saturdays, during football season, he loved to cheer on the “Crimson Tide” and shout “Roll Tide” after every touchdown. In his spare time, he loved to listen to country music.
Jim loved his family first and foremost. He was one special “Popsie” to his grandchildren who adored him. Jim will be remembered for always being there for his loving family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michail Myers and a nephew, Clayton Carlin.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy; daughters: Kristin Massa, Rushville, Indiana, and Jessi Murphy, Amory; sisters: Jennifer Isaacs (Jerry), Connersville, Indiana, Lola Thompson (Craig), Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; brother: Bob Myers Linda), Okemos, Michigan, grandchildren: Chloe Murphy, Jonas, Jocelyn and Luca Massa; 7 nephews and 3 nieces.
Graveside services for Jim Myers will be at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, October 15, 2017 at New Prospect Cemetery. Dr. Lloyd Sweatt will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeff Ward, Mike Odom, Benny Wright, Shane Myers, Bob Myers, and Brandon Kirkendall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
Visitation for Mr. Myers will be from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M., Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the funeral home.
