Smithville – James D. "Rabit" House, 59, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015, in Grenada. Born on February 8, 1956, in West Point, he was a son of the late Louise Blackston House.
He attended Becker School and graduated from Hatley High School. James married his best friend, Brenda Fortner, on April 8, 1989. Having worked for 15 years with Morris Scrap Yard and 4 years with Simmons Upholstery, he was a 20-year driver with UPS Freight. A child of God who loved going to church, James was a member of Harvest Temple Church of God. His love for his wife and family are what he lived and breathed. Genuine, kind, and most loving, James was a very gentle and unselfish man who had a huge heart. He enjoyed taking care of his wife and family, working in the yard, going out to eat, shopping, tinkering in his shop, building bird houses, and listening to Gospel and Easy Listening music.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda House, Smithville; daughter, Angela McCabe (Ryan), Columbus; son, Chris Padfield, Smithville; grandchildren, Parker Euer, Savannah Padfield, A. J. Padfield, Noah Frazier, Mason Padfield, and McKenzie McCabe; numerous special friends; and dog, Gidget.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM, Friday, April 10, 2015, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Greg Huguley and Mr. Shane Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Robert and Chris Vaughn, Chris Roberts, Patrick Swan, Preston Tubb, and Cia Astiyany.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Thursday at the funeral home.
