Amory – James Eugene Haney, 77, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023, peacefully at his home. He was born on February 22, 1946 in Monroe County, Mississippi.
Eugene attended school at Becker and then finished his education at Hatley School. He was a great provider for his family. For many years, he traded in tractor sales. He was a member of Meadowood Baptist Church. He loved watching westerns on tv while having a glass of milk with something sweet to eat. Eugene was a talented man that knew how to work with his hands as he could do carpentry, plumbing, and even do electrical work.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; two daughters, Jill Haney and Robyn Gray; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Riddle (Scott) and Karli Gray; one great-grandson, Clay Riddle. He is also survived by a sister Judy Spencer (Keith); step-son, Michael; step-grandchildren, Cole and Kristen; step-great-grandsons, Carson and Presley.
Eugene was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 40 years, Bobbye Dale Plunkett Haney; his parents, J.D. and Mavis Haney; and a sister, Doris Haney Tate.
A Celebration of Life service will be held to honor Eugene at 2:00 pm, on Sunday, March 5, 2023, with Dr. Lloyd Sweatt officiating. Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery, Hatley, MS. Visitation for family and friends will be from 1:30 until the service hour.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to a church of one’s choice.
