Nettleton – James Allen Cook, 52, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023, getting a new start on his new life in Heaven. He was born February 24, 1971 in Galveston, Texas to the late Rubel Clifton Cook and Faye Miller Cook.
James attended Nettleton High School, obtained his GED and furthered his education in college classes through the years. He began his career as a plumber and worked alongside his father over 30 years until his father’s death. James also worked in the electrical and mechanical maintenance field prior to joining North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS, 5 years ago as a Facility Operator. He was always dependable and a hard worker. He has never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. If he met you as a stranger, he left you as a friend.
He married the love of his life, April Riley Cook on March 3, 2001. Together they spent over 20 years traveling and making memories to last a lifetime. In addition to his wife, he and his brother Robert were so very close. James loved having good times with his wife, brother and a host of friends saying “It’s going to be huge” while hanging out, listening to outlaw and old country music, sharing a cold beer and just being surrounded by those he cared about. He loved to travel with special friends Steve and Shasta. Every Friday night he went to the “Local Jobo’s ” and then proceeded to the “Local Outback” to be around those he loved and considered family. He was always aggravating others and telling stories that often were followed by “True Story”. Those who knew him often heard him say “I Based My Whole Life on that” and “You’ll have that on those big jobs”. To know James is to know he was fun loving and fiercely loved the ones close to him.
In his downtime, his special place was his back porch where he would just enjoy the outdoors while listening to his famous playlist. His rescue fur babies were always by his side and everyone knew they were his children. He took pride in his well –manicured yard. He had a faith in God and enjoyed listening to different preachers over the radio. He was passionate about restoring old cars, racing and going to concerts.
James was a great man, full of love, mischief and had the natural gift of always making others smile. He will be missed dearly missed but never forgotten… True Story.
