Amory - James O’Neal Cagle, 79, died on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 in Monroe County as the result of an automobile accident. Born May 4, 1933, he was a son of the late Athel and Dovie Butler Cagle.
He married Inez Huggins; she survives. A graduate of Phil Campbell High School he worked for Scribner Equipment Co. and retired from Thompson Machinery. He also worked as a painter. A member of New Bethel United Methodist Church, he was also involved with Helping Hands in Smithville. He enjoyed wood working, painting, gardening, his dog, “Killer”, and much of his time was spent visiting at Mel’s Diner and Smithville Hardware.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with burial in the Young Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jeff Cagle, Johnny Fayet, Allen Duncan, Randal Dillard, Terry Parker, and Travis Scoggins. Honorary pallbearers will be Kirk Powell, Dustin Cagle, Scott Brignac, Johnny Fears, and Prentiss Wigginton.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Inez Huggins Cagle of Amory; one daughter, Tena Powell (Brad) of Gonzales, LA; two sons, Tommy Cagle of Mantachie and Terry Cagle of Smithville; one sister, Edith Dixon of Adamsville, Ala.; sister-in-law, Jean Cagle of Smithville; 4 grandchildren, Christena Brignac, Particia DeArmond, Kirk Powell, and Dustin Cagle; 5 great grandchildren, Kyla Brignac, Cullen DeArmond, Lexi Brignac, Alyssa Powell, and Paisley Powell; niece and nephew, Lecia Cagle and Jeff Cagle.
He was preceded death by his parents; and by a brother, Arvis Cagle.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. on Friday evening and will continue until service time on Saturday.
