Amory- James L. Ausborn, Jr., 83, died Saturday, March 30, 2013 at his residence in Amory. Born February 28, 1930, he was a son of the late James L. Sr. and Lena Allen Ausborn. He married Jean Cox in 1953.
A lifelong resident of Monroe County, Mr. Ausborn attended Hatley School, was a member of House of Prayer Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and song leader, worked in area garment plants, and was a security guard with Securitas Inc. A man of great faith, Mr. Ausborn served the Lord by singing, throughout his entire life in various churches. He enjoyed lending a hand to those in need, singing and playing music, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Cox Ausborn; daughter, Debbie Carter, Amory; grandchildren, Jason Parham (Kellie), Smyrna, GA, Nathan Parham, Hatley, Truman Carter III (Sandy), Girard, OH, Lindsay McMurry (D.J.), Sherman; great grandchildren, Brayden, Zachary, Tyler, and Kyle Parham, Amanda, Truman IV, Maggie and Breanna Carter, Alexis, Dylan, Jenna, Abigail, and Jaxon Herring; a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Erbie Mae Hamilton, Lucille Finch, Marie Bray; brothers, Kirby, Elmer, Virgil, and Virdis Ausborn; grand daughter, Amanda Parham.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, April 2, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. James Wilson and Bro. Jamie Gillentine officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jason and Nathan Parham, Truman L. Carter III,D.J. McMurry, Junior Rock, and Dewayne Laney.
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Manday evening at the funeral home.
