Hamilton – James Billy Adams, 81, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2015, at his residence in Hamilton, MS. Born on September 10, 1933, in Glen Allen, Alabama, he was a son of the late Joseph and Elsie Mae Dickinson Adams.
Mr. Adams attended school in Greenwood Springs and he received an Electrical Technician Certification from ICC. He served his country and worked as a helicopter mechanic in the Army. On May 9, 1954, he married his best friend, Martha Westbrook. Together they had two sons and were happily married for 60 years. A devoted and giving father, he coached his sons baseball teams, boated with them, and taught them how to ski. He worked for Tronox as an Electrical Instrumentation Technician. Some of his closest friends at work were Billy Head, Earnest Adams, and Gerald Pounders. After 35 years of service, he retired. Mr. Adams was a member of the Hamilton Church of Christ. His family and friends were the most important thing to him in his life. He enjoyed playing with his granddaughter and working in his shop with his sons during his free time. If he wasn’t home, he was busy traveling places with his wife, fishing, and riding the back roads to enjoy the countryside. Mr. Adams also liked to golf and listen to country music in his free time.
In addition to his wife, Martha, he was survived by his sons, Jeff Adams (Bridgett), Hamilton, and Jim Adams; granddaughter, Aubrey Adams, Hamilton; special friends Bobby and Ann Hawkins; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Estelle Boyd; and brothers, J.D. Adams and Alford Adams.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 PM, Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Mr. Tim Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Egger Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ray Arcement, Mike Boyd, Ricky Adams, Jim Ternyak, Martin Wilner, and Dustin Watson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Hawkins, Chris Boyd, and Jason Boyd.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Monday at EE Pickle Funeral Home, Amory.
