Jakita Ann Minich Barnes

Jakita Ann Minich Barnes of Guntersville, AL peacefully met her Savior and Lord at the age of 72 on May 7, 2017, at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice after a long battle with kidney failure. She was born on March 11, 1945, in Galveston, TX to Russel and Alma Minich of Indiana.
She was a 1963 graduate of Glencoe High School in Glencoe, AL. On September 14, 1963, she married Luther Glen Barnes of Amory, MS. They were blessed with 6 children. She enjoyed playing the piano for area churches, gardening, and raising her children. Her family was her life and she was a wonderful mother. A charming, determined woman, she led a full life and had a wonderful sense of humor.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Fresenius Kidney Care Lakeview, Medical Centers Home Care, Shepherd’s Cove Hospice, the wonderful men and women with Samaritan EMS, and a special thank you to her home health nurse, Lisa Cash Faulkner, for the amount of love and care she gave our mother during her illness.
She is survived by her children, Usona Michele Wood (Ron) of Guntersville, AL, Lorne Glenn Barnes (Victoria) of Douglas, AL, Dana Leeanne Lazenby (William) of Madison, AL, Sharon Denise Hawkins, of Madison, AL, Taneshia Ann Kennedy (Nicholas), of The United Kingdom, and Luther Glenn Barnes II (Lana), of Hokes Bluff, AL; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; her twin brothers, Ronald Minich (Becky) of Houston, TX, and Reginald Minich (Faye) of Nettleton, MS.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Luther Glen Barnes; brother, Russel Minich Jr.; grandson, Luther Glenn Barnes III.
Her graveside funeral service will be on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM ,at Haughton Memorial Park, Amory, MS with Bro. Larry Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Haughton Memorial Park. Pall bearers will be Lorne Glenn Barnes, Luther Glenn Barnes II, Taneshia Ann Kennedy, Nicholas Kennedy, William Lazenby Jr., and Reginald Minich.
Memorials in lieu of flowers should be made be made to: Shepherd’s Cove Hospice, 408 Martling Rd., Albertville, AL 35951.
