Jacob Hacker

El Segundo, CA – Jacob Hacker, 37, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Jacob was born on June 26, 1978, in Waukegan, IL.

Jacob attended school in Waukegan, IL, and in 1990, he moved to Cleveland, AL where he graduated from Cleveland High School. Growing up, he was an all-around athlete and a great baseball player who was dedicated and disciplined to working out. One who loved life and lived it to the fullest, Jacob was always looking out for everyone’s best interest. An encourager who always remained positive and never complained, he had a tremendous impact on folks as they never forgot him. When seeing him again, they would call him “Alabama.” Known for his contagious smile and wonderful outlook on life, Jacob would light up a room when arriving.

In 2007, Jacob moved to Amory. One who was real in his faith, his life was guided by his love for God and family. He attended Bigbee Baptist Church and he enjoyed sharing God’s Word and love with people. Jacob was introduced to his future wife, Heidi Laumen, by his grandfather, Cleveland Hacker. In 2012, they moved to California and they were married. Their love for each other was very special and profound. Work was Jacob’s passion yet he always looked forward to going home to family. He was an iron worker, job steward with NRG, and a member of the Boilermakers #92 in California. Jacob cherished his family, embraced life, and loved the beach. An avid Alabama football fan, he enjoyed building things, working on his Mustang, and listening to Alternative and Soft Rock. Together with his wife, they loved to sightsee spontaneously.

Survivors include his soulmate and best friend, Heidi Hacker, El Segundo, CA; mother, Jan McWorter (Jerry), Ventura, CA; father, Larry (Sue) Roberts, Wonderlake, IL; children, Patrick Holley (fiancée, Rachel) and Abby Holley, El Segundo, CA; half-brother, Tyler Roberts (Alaina), Lake Zurich, IL, and Ryan McWorter, Ventura, CA; grandson, Benjamin Holley; and many nieces & nephews.
