Jackie Henry Seals, 80, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at his residence in Smithville. He was born August 15, 1938 in Detroit, Alabama to the late John Henry and Flora Stanford Seals.

Jackie attended Smithville School and worked on the family farm. He worked at Moore's Service Station, Monroe Trousers, Walker Manufacturing Co., as a Road Foreman for Monroe County, and retired as Heavy Equipment Operator at the Monroe County Landfill after 27 years with the county. He also worked part time as a police officer for Smithville in his early years.

Jackie enjoyed working in his garden and sharing with others. He enjoyed mechanic work and had a race car in the 70s. Fishing, hunting, and watching westerns and Sanford and Son were a few things he liked to do, but what gave him the most enjoyment were his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They could bring a smile to his face in the worst of times. He was a member of Smithville Baptist Church and served in the Army National Guard, being a part of the Guard sent to Ole Miss in 1962.

Jackie is survived by his wife, Ann Thompson Seals, whom he married on May 26, 1959; daughter, Mitzi Summerford (Tony); son, Scott Seals, all of Smithville; grandchildren, Steven Summerford (Shelley) of Amory, Todd Summerford (Corey) of Tupelo, Wade Summerford (Ashley) of Flint, TX, Whitleigh and Madison Seals of Hatley; great-grandchildren, Grant Summerford, Will and Sadie Summerford, Henry Summerford; sister, Carolyn Boyd of Amory; brother, Larry Seals (Renee) of Smithville; sister-in-law, Carol Thompson of Monroeville, AL; brothers-in-law, Terry Thompson (Ginny) of Kenosha, WI, and Joe Burleson of Red Oak, TX; a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews; and special friends, Dianna Hawkins, Emmie Hawkins, Paisley Dodds, and Jennifer Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Thompson; sister-in-law, Geraldean Burleson; and brothers-in-law, Bill Thompson and Wayne Thompson.

Services will be at 2PM Sunday, September 23 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home, Smithville. Bro. Tom Bonds and Bro. Todd Summerford will officiate. Burial will be in Young Memorial Gardens in Smithville. Pallbearers will be Steven, Todd, and Wade Summerford, C.J. Thompson, Richard Houston, Tim Boyd, Ryan Seals, and Jake Self. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bonnie Joe Coker, Tommy Ford, Bo Stevens, Luke Harris, Scott Folmar, Billy Williams, and Mike Tucker.

Visitation will be from 5-8PM Saturday, September 22 at the funeral home in Smithville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Kindred Hospice Foundation, 3350 Riverwood Parkway Suite 1400, Atlanta, GA 30339; the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
