Navarre, FL – Jackie McWhirter Dendy, 73, died on Monday, December 16, 2013, at Gulf Breeze Hospital. Born on September 30, 1940, in Amory, she was a daughter of the late Orman Jackson and Mattie Ott McWhirter.
Jackie was a graduate of Amory High School, Class of 1958. She worked as a legal secretary for Jack N. Thomas and retired as Chief Loan Officer from Amory Federal Savings and Loan. Jackie was a member of First United Methodist Church. A loving, precious, and selfless lady with a high regard for morals, virtues, and manners, her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. Jackie was a past member of the City of Amory Elections Commission. She enjoyed playing golf, knitting, working the New York Times crossword puzzles, spending time with her grandchildren, and listening to Country music.
Survivors include her daughter, Dale Wright, Navarre, FL; son, Cole Dendy, Amory; grandchildren, Chandler Dendy, Abigayle Wright, and Camden Dendy; and nephew, Ron Pierce.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Johnnie McCarver.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, December 21 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Criddle officiating. Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 – 6:30 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
