Wren – Jack Gosa, 88, died on Thursday, October 13, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Columbus. Born on December 24, 1922, in Monroe County, MS, he was a son of the late William Clarence Gosa and Myrtie Lee Tate Gosa Best.
Mr. Gosa married Oddie Ree Buchanan on May 21, 1948. For more than 30 years, he had worked at the local Chevrolet dealership, retiring when it was Larry Clark Chevrolet. Receiving many honors from Chevrolet, Cadillac, and Oldsmobile while working, Mr. Gosa was proud of the fact that he still holds the record for selling the most cars in one month.
Mr. Gosa was an elder at Wren Presbyterian Church. He was a Mason. A man who shared what was on his mind, he enjoyed storytelling and sharing stories about selling cars. Mr. Gosa enjoyed squirrel hunting, working his catfish lakes, farming, and playing cards and dominoes with his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Gosa Tate (Brad) and grandson, Tyler Tate, Amory; sisters, Cleta Mae Harmon, Amory, and Verna Mae Williams, Woodson, TX; brothers, Max Gosa, Hamilton, and Andy Gosa, Smithville.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, William “Son” Gosa.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, October 16 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Dr. Allen Simpson and Bro. Danny C. Burks officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eddie Wamble, Dennis Thompson, Al Stephens, Harold Sanders, Robert Buchanan, and Ricky Reynolds. Honorary pallbearer will be Larry Clark.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Saturday at the funeral home.
