Bro. J.W. Sain

Amory— J.W. Sain, 87, entered his heavenly home on May 8, 2019. Born on February 28, 1932 in Darnell, AR to Clyde and Roxanne Burton Sain, he was one of eight siblings.

J.W. attended schools in Arkansas and Bell City, MO. He married the love of his life, Leona, on April 1, 1955 in Aberdeen, and in 1981, they moved to Amory. Throughout his life, he worked as a farmer, and he retired from Gibson Container at age 63. J.W. was a long-time faithful member of 1st Assembly of God in Amory, where he served as a Deacon and prayed for the sick. His faith was an important cornerstone in his life, and he regarded his church family as his own. He loved his Lord and his family above all things. J.W. adored his children and grandchildren, and treasured the time they had together.

He was a quiet man with a good sense of humor and a green thumb. J.W. was a master in the garden, and particularly enjoyed growing cabbage, onions, corn, and various types of flowers. J.W. also loved raising chickens. In his free time, he liked hunting for deer and squirrels and fishing with his wife. He had a very special relationship with his dog, which he named Little Man.

J.W. raised a close-knit family that is mourning the loss of a wonderful man. Through Christ, however, this is not a goodbye: merely a “see you again.” The cherished memories he created with his family will live on forever.

J.W. is survived by his wife, Leona M. Sain; daughter, Emily Edwards (Mike), Belden; sons, Jerry Sain (Mary), Amory, Terry Sain (Brenda), Amory; grandchildren, Jerry Wayne, Joshua, Brandi, Emily, Heather, Tabatha, and Chris; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Dr. Ken Harvey and Dr. John Allen. The family wants to send a special thanks to his NMMC Home Health Nurse, Elizabeth and all the staff with NMMC Inpatient Hospice.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers; son-in-law, William Darron Lee.

A funeral service will be held at 12PM Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 1st Assembly of God in Amory, with Bro. Justin Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Nettleton. Pallbearers will include Jerry Kelton, Sam Williams, Dewey Oliver, Jeff Gosa, Joshua Lee, and Jerry Sain.
Visitation will be Friday night from 5-8 PM and Saturday morning from 10AM until the service hour at the church.

Memorials and donations in J.W.’s honor may be made to 1st Assembly of God, 521 Tshudi Rd, Amory, MS 38821; and to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
