Greenwood Springs— Iva Lee Smith Sims, 81, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, surrounded by her loved ones at her residence. Born on July 23, 1935, in the Bethlehem Community of Greenwood Springs, MS, she was a daughter of the late Riley Lenzey and Cora Winona Kennedy Smith.
Bobbie graduated Smithville High School with the class of 1952. She married J.D. Sims on April 4, 1958. Bobbie spent her life as a care giver and home maker. She was very proud of her six children and kept busy caring for her family. She was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting and later in life, she found time to read good mystery novels. She also liked to watch the Hallmark Channel. She was a great mother and friend, and very family oriented. Bobbie’s memory will be cherished forever in the hearts of her family.
Survivors include daughters, Karen Sims Marshall (Charles), Smithville, Kathryn Sims Davis (Ken), Smithville, Kendra Sims Fair (Chris), Greenwood Springs, Kristie Sims Grimes (Michael), Greenwood Springs; sons, Dewayne Sims (Linda), Greenwood Springs, Delwin Sims (Elizabeth), Greenwood Springs; grandchildren, Kerri Marshall Spann (Larry), Kayla Marshall Eaton (Ashley), Zack Sims, Kyle Davis (Katie), Chas Marshall (Jessica), Alex Sims (Amber), Nicholas Sims, Kellen Davis Steinke (Brandon), Jake Fair, Jason Sims, Molly Sims; sisters, Evelyn McBride, Birmingham, AL; great-grandchildren, Clay Eaton, Riley Eaton, Cora Spann, Millie Eaton, Kendall Steinke; a host of nieces and nephews; many friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Sims; sisters, Leta Smith Newell and Marie Smith Bunn.
Her Funeral Service will be at 10:30A.M. on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Bro. John Hallman officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in Greenwood Springs. Pallbearers will be Zack Sims, Alex Sims, Nicholas Sims, Chas Marshall, Kyle Davis, and Jake Fair.
Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations made be made to the Bethlehem Cemetery Fund at Renesant Bank, 201 Main, Amory.
