Smithville – Iris Nell Faulkner DeVall, 83, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016, at Merit Health Gilmore Memorial, Amory, MS. Born on December 21, 1932, in Hatley, she was a daughter of the late Bryan and Anna Belle Ausborn Faulkner.
Iris Nell graduated from Hatley High School, Class of 1951, where she played basketball. On August 20, 1951, she married the love of her life Glen Devall and they were married 65 years. Working in the garment industry, Iris Nell was a Supervisor at Hatley Sportswear and retired from Red Kap. She then went to work at Amory Manor Nursing Home until retiring to keep her great-grandson. She was a member of Pearce Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and her church family.
Iris Nell was passionate about her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She enjoyed working in her yard, cooking, making sure everyone was well fed and sewing. Iris Nell was an avid Braves fan. Elvis was her favorite musician. This dear woman will be missed greatly by all that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Glen DeVall, Smithville; daughter, Glenda DeVall Pierce (Roger), Smithville; sisters, Ophelia Faulkner Richardson, Wren; brother, Kelly Faulkner, Amory; grandchildren, Shane Pierce (Suzanne) and Kim Pierce Woods (Spencer) of Smithville; great-grandchildren, Bryan Pierce (Candy), Belle Pierce, Lara Grace Woods, Billie Claire Goode, Mary Sue Tacker Pierce and Sam Tacker Pierce; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Morgan Layne Pierce; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin Wendell (Mattie Mae) Faulkner; and brother-in-law, Sam Richardson.
Her Graveside Service will be held at 1:30 PM, Thursday, December 1, at Hatley Cemetery with Bro. Chris Moody officiating. Pallbearers will be Bryan Pierce, Spencer Woods, Roger Pierce, Neal Sargent, Chas Marshall, and Bill Tacker. Honorary pallbearers will be Gains Trace Water Board, Ralph Dill, Charles Marshall, Harold Standifer and Kerry Mitchell.
Visitation will be from 11:15 AM – 1:15 PM, Thursday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory.
