Irene F. Wood

Amory – Irene Frederick Wood, 84, died on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Golden Living. Born on February 9, 1930, in Smithville, she was a daughter of the late Rufus Frederick and Lilly Foster.

Irene attended Smithville High School. On September 9, 1950 she married William Wood. For many years, Irene was a seamstress for Amory Garment. She enjoyed Gospel music, watching T.V., and reading. Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family and her close friend, Barbara Parker. She was a member of Meadowood Baptist Church, Amory.

Survivors include her Daughter, Carolyn Williams, Amory; Sons, William F Wood (Carol), Raleigh,NC, and Steve Wood(Carolyn),Laurinburg ,NC; brothers Robert Frederick (Sue), Smithville, Norris Frederick(Geraldine)Hamilton ,Al; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Sam Frederick and Hoyle Frederick and one sister Geneva Sanders

A Graveside Service will be held at 2 PM, Friday, September 5, at Masonic Cemetery with Dr. Lloyd Sweatt officiating.

Visitation will be from 12 – 2 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
