Amory - Irene Greenhaw Robertson, 80, died on Friday, July 29, 2011, at Community Hospice at Darlington Oaks. Born on February 26, 1931, in Madison County, AL, she was a daughter of the late Alvie Lee Coleman and Lena Gwathney Greenhaw.
Mrs. Robertson attended Madison County, AL, Schools and moved to the Mississippi Delta at age fourteen. Mrs. Robertson married Chester Robertson, Jr., on February 26, 1948, and they moved to Amory in 1967. She was a homemaker who was a wonderful, loving and caring mother. A very religious and God-fearing lady, she was a member of First Assembly of God Church and was a former Sunday school teacher. Family-oriented and a fun-loving mother, Mrs. Robertson always looked forward to their annual family reunion. She enjoyed listening to Gospel music, crocheting, cooking, gardening, dancing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Patsy Jordan, Tupelo, Jane Bell (Stevie), Amory, Vicki Brunetti (Xan), Amory, and Jackie Robertson, Pensacola, FL; sons, Travis Robertson (Joan), Columbus, Chester “Chet” Robertson, III, Okolona, Danny Robertson, Amory, and Stephen Robertson, Aliceville, AL: sisters, Ruth Johnson, Amory, and Sarah Peace (Walter), Decatur, AL; brothers, Rev. Elvie Greenhaw (Peggy), Sherman, Johnny Greenhaw (Mary), Grenada, Roy Greenhaw (Lucy), Tunica, and Oliver Greenhaw (Peggy), Cleveland; 25 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rickie Regina Robertson.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Monday, August 1 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Malcolm Tidwell and Bro. Stanley Blaylock officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Stevie Bell; Cody, Zach, and Timothy Jordan; Brandon Reeves; and Shawn and Jackie Robertson. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Gray and Malcolm Tidwell.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.
