Greenwood Springs – Ethel Irene Sullivan Reeves, 100, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017, at The Meadows, Fulton. Born on January 11, 1917, in Splunge, Mississippi, she was a daughter of the late John Daniel and Fannie Palmer Sullivan.
Irene grew up in a large family and she attended school in the Splunge Community. She was a life-long member of Splunge Baptist Church and she loved the Lord above all. She was a good and faithful servant to the Lord and she treasured spending time reading the Bible. She married James K. Reeves at a young age and together they were blessed with six children. Irene held one of the most important jobs in society, she was a homemaker. Irene also worked as a Seamstress at Longnecker.
Her children and grandchildren gave her so much joy in life. She loved spending time with them. She was lovingly known as “Granny” or MamMaw” and her children would tell you that she was the best mother in the world. She enjoyed listening to Gospel music and sewing for family. The love Irene gave to her family will live on forever in their hearts.
She is survived by her sons, Jimmy Reeves (Mary), Splunge, Harry Reeves (Susan), Smithville and Jerry Reeves (Lane) Sulligent, Alabama; daughter, Amanda White (Bobby), Amory; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James K. Reeves; sons, Basil Sandlin, Jackie Reeves, Joe Reeves; sisters, Maxine Brown and an infant sister, Mildred Sullivan.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, August 19, 2017, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Bro. Jim Ray and Bro. Stanley Blaylock officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Andy Taylor, Ronnie Boozer, Dean Hudson, Mark Sandlin, Paul Sandlin, and Dudley Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Taylor and Bobby White.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 18, 2017, from 5-8 PM, at the Funeral Home in Amory.
