Amory – Inez Dixon Flowers, 91, died on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at North MS Medical Center, Tupelo. Born on November 20, 1920, in Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late Perd and Louise Johnson Dixon.
A life-long resident of Monroe County, Mrs. Flowers graduated from Wren High School. She and her late husband, Roy Flowers, operated Flowers Grocery on McAlister Road. For 35 years, Mrs. Flowers was also employed by Peoples Drug Company. She was a life-long member of Grady’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Bond, son-in-law, Jerry Bond, granddaughter, Rebecca Garner, grandson-in-law, Todd Garner, and great-grandchildren, Ann Gates and Mett Garner, all of Oxford.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ray Dixon; sister-in-law, Sally Dixon; and grandson, Christopher Bond.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Friday, July 6 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Whaley, Rev. Warren Black, and Rev. Harrison Upshaw officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Thomas Griffith, Bill Griffith, Ronald Archer, Joe Rieves, Paul Gregory, Gerald Marion, and Dick Millender. Honorary pallbearers will be the Coffee Drinkers at People’s Drug Company.
Visitation will be from Noon – 1:45 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are given to Grady’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 30038 Peacely Ferry Rd., Aberdeen, MS 39730 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
