Ina Rae Young
Smithville – Ina Rae Fugier Young, 70, was reunited with her creator on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. She was born June 8, 1947, in Denver, Colorado, to Elwood and Helen Scoggin Fugier.
At a young age, she moved to Artesia, NM where she spent her childhood and adolescence. She went to Artesia High School and after moving her senior year, she graduated from Las Cruses, NM High School in 1965.
After working as a sales clerk for a brief time, on a blind date, she met the love of her life, Bobby J. “Chubby” Young and they were married on October 6, 1965.
Ina Rae and Chubby moved to Smithville in 1972 where they lived the rest of their lives. She was a homemaker her entire life and was fiercely devoted to her family and children. She was one the most loving, caring and thoughtful individuals one ever had the pleasure of knowing. In her younger days, she was always at dance recitals and ballgames cheering on her children and later her grandchildren.
With her gentle, kind, spirit Ina Rae never met a person she didn’t like. She was always positive and smiling and giving the benefit of the doubt to all. She loved Jesus and attended Crossbound Church when she was able.
She loved playing cards and reading John Grisham books and the latest magazines. She enjoyed spending time with her family, watching movies, with some of her favorites being Dirty Dancing and Pretty Woman. Ina Rae listened to the Gaithers and Bee Gees and enjoyed sitting out on her porch and going to First Friends in Amory.
She was loved by all who met her and will be greatly missed.
Ina Rae is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Hodges (Brian), Smithville; son, Robert “Robby” Burdine Young (Mary), of Smithville; grandchildren, Lacey Sims (Michael), Tony Young (Samantha), Tyler Scott (Mandy), Lindsey Young, Tanner Young, Heath and Kyle Noe; great-grandchildren, Lily and Jack Jones; Reed, Slade, and Ridley Scott; Ryder Harrington; aunt, Mary Ehrhart, Artesia, NM; special friends, Marcella Morrow and Destiny Riggan.
