Smithville – Idra Lee Williams Young, 104, died on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at her residence. Born on March 27, 1910, in Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late Rufus and Ida McDaniel Williams.
Mrs. Young was a graduate of Smithville High, Class of 1928. On December 12, 1936, she married Cleburn Wylie Young. A dedicated homemaker who was feisty, giving and a wonderful cook, she was fully committed to taking care of her family. Loving her Lord and Savior and talking with Him daily, Mrs. Young was a member of Smithville Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Loving to cook for her family and friends, she enjoyed tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, and sharing vegetables with neighbors and friends.
Survivors include her sons, Douglas Young (Ruth) and Jimmy Young of Smithville; daughter, Sharla Ruth West (Harold), Amory; grandchildren, Cliff Young and Monty Young (Pam) of Smithville; Patrick Young (Latisha), Amory; Amy Johnson (Mark) and Heather Munn (Jason), of Amory; great-grandchildren, Wesley Young (Leslie), Blair Childers (Wayne), and Drake Young (Paige); Dylan and Tyler Young; Luke and Liza Johnson; Jacob and Chloe Munn; great-great-grandchild, Cullen Minor; several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Young; brothers, Bryan, Dewey, Arley, Woodrow, Lowell, and Loman Williams; sisters, Ivy Brasfield, Ila Mae Nash, Isa Lou Williams, Itha Ree Williams, and an infant twin sister.
A Funeral Service will be held at 4 PM, Monday, September 22 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Smithville Chapel with Bro. Wes White officiating. Burial will follow in Smithville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Monty, Cliff and Patrick Young; Jason Munn; Mark Johnson; and Jimmy Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Teddy Williams and Dillard Nash.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Sunday at the Smithville Chapel.
