Huey Little

December 1, 1935 — August 6, 2018

Huey Little

Smithville— Edward Huey Little, Sr., 82, entered the gates of Heaven on Monday, August 6, 2018. Born on December 1, 1935, in Smithville, he was a son of A.Z. and Ellen Marie Fears Little.

Huey graduated from Smithville High School with the Class of 1956. He then attended Welding School at Itawamba Junior College. He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960. He married the love of his life, Clinese, on April 27, 1961, and they had a very happy and blessed life together until her passing in 2013. Huey was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church, where he served as a training union teacher for senior adults. A strong man of faith, he centered his life on God and his family, making sure they were raised with the love of Jesus Christ.

During his career, Huey owned and operated an asphalt truck for 30 years. He retired from the City of Amory as a Street Department laborer. In his free time, he enjoyed working in his garden, reading, and listening to Southern Gospel music. Huey was also interested in antique cars.
Huey’s loved ones described him as “loving, laughing, and driving us crazy.” He loved his family more than anything, and was always involved in everyone’s lives. He was persistent, determined, and always had his own opinion. He was a kind and loving father, grandfather, and friend. Huey touched many lives and brought happiness to those who knew him. His legacy will continue on through his family, and his loved ones take comfort in knowing that Huey is at peace with his Heavenly father.

Huey is survived by his daughters, Ronda Little Martin, Lebanon, TN, Angelia Little, Amory; son, Edward Huey Little, Jr., Smithville; grandchildren, Carley Wall, Connor Wall, Chloe Wall, Samuel Martin; sister, Doris Jean Hathcock, Smithville; brother, James Herbert Little, Smithville; 5 nephews and 6 nieces; and special friends and church family at New Hope Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clinese Hargett Little; and son-in-law, Edgar “Eddie” Martin.
