Smithville – Hubert Wayne Knight, 76, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Sanctuary Hospice House, Tupelo, MS. Born on March 17, 1940, in Pearce Chapel community, he was a son of Virgil Hanley and Era Mae Wiley Knight.
Hubert was a graduate of Smithville High School. After graduation, he worked in the furniture industry all of his life. He enjoyed hunting, riding his four-wheeler, and being on his tractor. Hubert loved Gospel and Country music, especially George Jones. To relax, he enjoyed watching Andy Griffith and Matlock on television. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
He is survived by his daughter, Angela Irvin (Dean), Aberdeen; son, Michael Knight (Edith), Smithville; sisters, Anita Kennedy, Greenwood Springs; Nina Morrison, Pearce Chapel Community; Glenda Holloway, Amory; brother, Larry Knight, Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Michael Knight, II, Joshua Knight, Kyle Knight, April Alred, Chris Irvin, Jessica White; great-grandchildren, Slade White, Molly Claire White, Layton Irvin, Camden Irvin, Hayze Irvin, Caitlin Knight, Bailey Knight and Dorian Alred.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Elaine Knight.
A Celebration of Life will be at 1 PM, Thursday, June 9, 2016, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Bro. Charles Coggins officiating. Burial will be in Pearce Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Knight, II, Joshua Knight, Kyle Knight, Chris Irvin, Layton Irvin, Mitchell Alred. Honorary pallbearers will be Shannon White and Dean Irvin.
Visitation will be from 11 AM–12:50 PM, Thursday at the funeral home.
