Helen Lynn Tackett

Helen Baughman Tackett

Smithville – Helen Tackett, 78, met the Lord face to face on Monday, November 7, 2022. She was born on November 14, 1943, in Tupelo, MS, to the late Floyd Baughman and Louie Bell Buse Baughman.

Helen went to school in Lee County and married her sweetheart Thomas Wayne Tackett on June 20, 1959. Initially, she worked in the most important career in the industry, she was a homemaker and provided a great environment for her family. Together, she and her husband were blessed with two daughters and over 60 years of marriage. She was loving wife, strong woman, great caregiver and her faith in the Lord led her every step. Later in life, she worked as a caregiver for those in need. She enjoyed taking care of people and her love for them was evident in her selfless servant attitude.

She was a prayer warrior for those in need and she had a beautiful spirit. Helen was a member of Amory First Assembly of God and she treasured her daily walk with the Lord. Helen liked to listen to Gospel music and loved to play piano, as she had played since was three years old. Her family meant so much to them and her husband was the love of her life. Helen’s grandson Tyler had a special place in her heart.

Besides her family, some of the people dear to her were Paulette Crosby, Sandra Boozer, Judy Armstrong, and Sharon Lester. Whether it was painting or decorating, Helen had a great knack for artistic activities.

Helen cared dearly about everyone. The warmth of her kind spirit was always felt by those around her. She will be missed dearly and the memories made through the years will be cherished.

She is survived by her best friend, Thomas Wayne Tackett, Smithville; daughter, Cindy Tackett Collums (Mike), Smithville; grandson, Michael Tyler Collums; and sister, Betty Harville, Verona; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Louie Baughman; daughter, Missy Tackett; sisters, Sue Williams, Louise Shumpert; brother, Clifton Baughman.
