Helen Tubb Sims

Becker - Helen Forrest Tubb Sims, 88, graduated to her heavenly home on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at River Place Nursing Center, Amory. Born on July 18, 1928, in Becker, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Grace Hill Tubb.
Helen was a graduate of Becker School. On September 17, 1948, she married the love of her life, L. C. Sims. In 1958, Helen graduated from Beauty School and opened Helen’s Beauty Shop in 1959, working out of her home. Having built a large clientele and needing a new location, she bought Sander’s Grocery and moved her shop to its current location. Her business has been a landmark in Becker. A dedicated and successful business woman, she loved her customers and “My Girls,” who worked for her. One who recognized talent, Helen was instrumental in encouraging ladies to become a beautician. A lady who loved to learn, Helen loved what she did and loved serving others. Upon returning from beauty school seminars in Toronto and New York, Helen would always share with her staff so they could provide the best services for their clientele. Very giving, she would meet with and train other beauticians on Monday’s.
A lady of strong faith, she loved God and her family. Accepting Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was young, Helen had been a member of Becker Baptist Church for 80 years. Very active in church, she was a Sunday school and Training Union teacher. Having a burden for those who were not saved, Helen and L. C. were strong witnesses, always sharing The Gospel of Christ and leading people to Him by sharing Romans 10:9-10, 13, “The Plan of Salvation.” Bold in her faith, she would witness to her clients and others with whom she came in contact. Helen enjoyed Gospel music. One who never met a stranger and impacted many lives, her legacy lives on through her family. She will be dearly missed.
